1. Name Andi Prielmaier
    2. Nickname Prielmajör
    3. Birth Date/Zodiac Sign 1972
    4. Domicile Warngau/Tegernsee
    5. When did you start Freeriding? Since when are you skiing? You do not start Freeriding, it is an attidude towards life. I started skiing at 4 years. I did Snowboarding for many years, on and off I still do it, the intention is the same, whether you are skiing, Snowboarding, Mountainbiking, Surfing, what ever, ….
just an attitude of life concerning all areas of life.
    6. Since when are you equipped by KOMPERDELL? Hm, since 2 years
    7. What do you connect with the brand KOMPERDELL? Top-quality poles and protectors. A stiff ski pole has great influence on the skiing stability, also in terrains. Before I have not really been aware of this.
    8. What are your favourite tricks with Freeriding and what would you still like to carry out? I am not very concerned of the performance, of the tricks, but more of the playful element, the fun at Freeriding. In my opinion the idea of effort does not go very well with the term Freeriding. Freeriding has to do with individuality, liberty, adventure, nature, the feeling to be “free”, as the name already determines. Of course, everybody wants to make progress…”imagine you are dashing down a slope, at high speed, Then edges your skies, pushes the knees to the slope, does a curve, pushes the tail still deeper into the snow, wow, thousand of snow crystals fly around your ears, you feel the energy. You turn around, big grin, feeling of happiness, this moment you are absolutely in the present”, this is Freeriding for me. Switch skiing in deep powder is Freeriding for me. Fat Drop with a twisted, looooong delayed x-up integrated in a Big Mountain Run – this is style – is Freeriding for me. Freeriding is the variety and creativity offside flat rolled ski runs. Lincoln is one of the most thrilling moves which I would like to be able to do.
    9. What ski regions/tours/places do you like most? Wow, there are many. I like our small mountains at the front door, if there is enough powder, there are runs like in Canada directly at the front door, Hochfügen, La Grave, Dolomites, I like to visit often. I we do not have any snow, then up into the plane, one of my “darlings” is the Gulmarg/Kashmir.
    10. What were your most important achievements? Hm, successes, performance to be better than the others, for me has not much to do with freeriding. Nevertheless, I am living in an achievement-oriented society of which I cannot escape, therefore I also have the faster, higher and farther in me. Fortunately I have both in me, otherwise life cannot be enjoyed. My achievements: participation at Snowboard World Cup (four years) and European Championships, Vice German Champion Snowboard, GS, first skiing and snowboarding in New Zealand, Caucasus, Greenland, Himalaya, numerous expeditions: among others to Burma.
    11. What is the most fascinating at Freeriding? To free oneself from the hectic rush, of the constructed world, to feel free, to have time for breathing. To feel the nature’s energy and also the own energy. To be here and now, to perceive with awareness what you are just doing at the moment, because you are not distracted by thoughts or numerous outer stimuli obscuring. There are no rules and interdictions made by men, but elementary rules given by nature.
    12. What sport would you do if there was no snow? I do a lot of biking in summer, climbing and surfing, the epitome of soul-riding.
    13. What does your bone fracture status look like? Oh, next question, I do not want to remember
    14. What other injuries were caused by Freeriding? Another such question, injuries leave their signs also in your mind and I do not want to touch them. A little fear of injuries always accompanies you.
    15. Did you already have an extraordinary experience with a KOMPERDELL back protector? At some crashes I was glad to have the thing with me.
    16. Have you got an idol – if yes – who is your idol? Idol, Ideal, well I would not like to be this personality, because everybody is his own master and apprentice at the same time. Jesus Christ,Buddha, Ghandi, my son are ideals having influenced me and still influencing me in a positive way. Annemarie Stömer, Herrmann Hesse, Francisco Goya, Jason Polakow, Herrmann Buhl, Reinhard Karl at skiing Kaj Zackrisson and Candice Thovex.
    17. What are the 3 things you would take along to a lonesome island? My son, my other part, longboard
    18. What of are you afraid the most? To wake up at the end of life to have lived other-directed and not having listened to my other voice.
    19. What do you always pack into your backpack for your tours in the mountains? A Tegernsee beer, it is super
    20. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I have no idea, I try to keep on learning and living in the present. Of course I have an idea of the future, but in my opinion one is planning too much especially in the western world. Until then I want to realize some of my dreams as e.g. one ski and sailing expedition north of the Polar Circle.
    21. Favourite film? There are many, e.g. Matrix, Pulp Fiction, Life is beautiful, Barefoot
    22. Favourite song? Imagine all the people from John Lennon is one of many
    23. Favourite meal? Pasta, but spicy
    24. What is your motto? Get over your fear, live your dream, listen to your heart, because therein lies you happiness.
    25. What targets/plans do you have for the future? Hm, many projects, in sports and privacy, think positively, I try to live open-minded and to dedicate myself to environment project.
